So is a true symmetrical duo as both members equal read more There is more than one band with So as their name: 1) So began in 2002 with the pair of Eriko Toyoda and Markus Popp (Oval, Microstoria). I followed them 'round and saw them many times, including the Greyhound pub and Marqueee. Truly one of the greatest bands. I cannot speak highly enough about these lost voices. Horseshoe In The Glove is an excellent album (heads up, check out 'Blinder' by the opposition ie Mark Long and Marcus Bell.

The band took a hiatus in 1987, when Bell and Long began working on more commercial-sounding material under the name So. Their album, Horseshoe in the Glove, yielded a minor US hit in the song 'Are You Sure', which, despite receiving a moderate amount of airplay on rock radio and being named an MTV 'video of the week', barely missed reaching Billboard's Top 40, peaking at #41.( LP PCS73168/ CD CDP 746997-2 EMI)01 Are You Sure02 Dreaming03 Burning Bush04 Horseshoe In The Glove05 Capitol Hill06 Tips On Crime07 Villains08 Would You Die For Me09 Are You Sure (12' MIX on cd)10 First Of May (on cd)11 Dreaming (Cocktail MIX on cd)Recorded and mixed at Livingston3, Produced/Engineered & Mixed by Walter Turbitt.

Not to be confused with the similarly named electronic act, featuring Markus Popp (also of Oval and Microstoria) and the Japanese vocalist Eriko Toyoda.

So were an Englishduo from London that was active in the late 1980s, that featured Marcus Bell and Mark Long, who were previously members of new wave band The Opposition. The duo were managed by Steve Weltman of Esta Management, and were contemporaries of acts such as Climie Fisher and Waterfront. Signed to Parlophone, they released singles such as 'Are You Sure?' (which charted in the UK at #62[1] and U.S. at #41) and 'Would You Die for Me', as well as the accompanying album Horseshoe in the Glove, produced by Walter Turbitt.

Marcus Bell died in December 2014.[citation needed]
